Today I’ll share the female empowerment quotes I created for my poster collections and the true stories they tell about the realities of being a woman:

  • Dream Art Series – What are the superpowers we hold as women?

  • Self Care Collection – Self-care isn’t as complex as they make it out...so what is it then?

  • Mindfulness Collection – Contrary to popular belief, mindfulness isn't reserved only for the enlightened, and it's the best thing out there :)

I have always been incredibly inspired by words. In moments when my faith in myself has been low—when I’ve felt sad, heartbroken, listless—words, whether in the form of music, a poem, or a motivational quote on my feed, have been my little lifeline. I feel these tiny vibrations of excitement and alignment whenever a line truly clicks. My whole being softens up.

There are songs that hold just this single line so powerful and relevant I’ll replay it coouuuuntless times just to feel the tingles over again.

I surround myself with these nuggets of inspiration: blasting my favorite song, pinning motivational quotes, decorating my space with empowering visuals.

When I was a teenager, I’d write a lot of essays and poetry, because this was my way of making sense of the world —somewhere between pure intuitive word flow and a brush of logical thought.

I’ve always had a thing for taglines. I used to work for a PR agency and we were to create a website for a fancy sky bar. The concept of the website was very hip. As I was designing it, I had to put a placeholder tagline. The first thing that came to mind was “Elevate Your Experience,” because you were physically and experientially going up. It was so simple, yet it captured the idea so beautifully. And to me, that is magic.

Women’s empowerment has always been close to my heart. I feel like our collective femininity keeps getting stifled by ever-changing and contradictory trends that promote unhealthy body standards, and demanding self-improvement routines. The speech in Barbie pops into my head: “It is literally impossible to be a woman. You are so beautiful, and so smart, and it kills me that you don't think you're good enough. Like, we have to always be extraordinary, but somehow we're always doing it wrong.” 😮💨

As I’ve been going through therapy and self-discovery, I’ve also become an acute listener. 👂 I’ve been listening to the stories of other women, whether it’s family members, close friends, strangers on the internet (love ya Reddit!), female therapists, authors like Kristin Hannah, Sylvia Plath and Clarissa Pinkola Estés, musicians, reality show and movie characters.

A big part of my research for the products of the zen acrobat, was based on these stories and research I ran with women across the Internet.

In this blog post, I want to take you on a journey through the wall art I created with these experiences in mind. I hope you can find inspiration in the female empowerment quotes it features as much as in the visual concepts.

Dream Art Female Empowerment Series

The moon has long been connected to the mysterious, soft, and intuitive female energy. This intuitive power often manifests through feelings and visions, rather than through the mind’s rational specificity. Similarly, at night, our dreams bring messages from the subconscious, mysteriously woven into nonsensical plotlines.

This collection features three powerful heroines with strong names and important missions, each reminding us of a power we hold within us that sometimes lies buried too deep—suffocated by societal standards and daily pressures.

“Remember the Power in Softness” — The World Changer

Well…the world has been in shambles recently. Violence and aggression are everywhere—on the news, online, even in our own inner dialogue.

One of the greatest powers we hold as women is our softness: intuition, empathy, a fierce kind of gentleness. The world needs more of that. I’m convinced tomorrow’s true World Changers are the ones who’ll balance harshness with the softer strengths of diplomacy, trust, and healing.

This is what The World Changer stands for.

“Remember the Power in Intuition” — The Shape Shifter

Back in uni, I took a course called Humanity & Transhumanity. We debated what makes us human and when our nature becomes so altered that we become transhuman—whether by uploading our minds onto computers/AI, or developing technologies that can reverse biological aging (for those of you who want to read more on the topic, this is a really quick overview.)

A lot of that sounded very Orwell‑ish back then, but not so much anymore. First came laptops and smartphones that changed the way we work and communicate; now, in the last two or three years, AI has brought even more drastic changes. And this is just the beginning.

We live in such fast‑changing times, and our heads are constantly bombarded with information, choices, and a multitude of meta‑realities. We over‑rationalize, and our minds do what they do best—they push us into an exhausting swing of contradictory arguments. (To quote the BBC: “In the course of a day, the average person in a Western city is said to be exposed to as much data as someone in the 15th century would encounter in their entire life.” Whiiiit? 🤯)

However, it is suggested that a big part of our lives are dictated by the subconscious, which speaks through exactly what we’ve been taught to ignore: our emotions, feelings, insights, idle thoughts, and our bodies.⁣ Sooo… here comes the Shape Shifter, to remind us of the power in intuition and flexibility. Learning how to balance our beautiful brains with the deep wisdom we hold within—that, to me, is the true notion of flexibility and resilience.

The more flexible we are and the less controlling, the more psychologically stable and adaptable to change we will be. Like true Shape Shifters. And that’s the skill of the future.

“Remember the Power in Feeling” — The Gentle Empath

For the longest time we’ve been convinced that feelings are a liability—that stoicism equals strength; that the more you endure, the more you bottle them up, the stronger you are; that less empathy equals more success.

But feelings and emotions are our internal compass. They help steer us toward what’s right for us. They hold immense wisdom and power. And the better we learn to read, honor, and express them, the more powerful we become. When we show kindness and compassion to ourselves first, we can extend it to others…something that is in dire deficit in today’s world. 🙁

I’m not gonna lie… sometimes it can be tough to stay gentle and empathetic in a world that sees aggression as the ultimate sign of strength, or a world that constantly tries to erase our boundaries and get into our personal space uninvited. 😟 But being kind doesn’t mean we’re not firm when we put boundaries or speak out. 💪 We can express anger and frustration and still remain kind and gentle.

This is where the Gentle Empath steps in.

Self Care Series

“Wear Your Feelings With Pride” - The Dress To Express

I got the idea for this title from the popular “Dress to Impress” catchphrase. But here it’s an invitation to wear every feeling with pride. 💃Not in the sense of unhealthy oversharing or being vulnerable when it isn’t safe, but in owning our emotions, on and in our bodies, and choosing when and how to express them.

A lot of us seem to live with the notion that “bad” feelings, such as sadness or anger, should be suppressed. We strive for a sanitized sense of Nirvana, where we experience Buddha-like calmness and happiness all the time. But I don’t think that’s it. Life can be tough, and some decisions, even if they come from the deepest alignment, can bring sadness. There are a lot of tragedies happening in the world that would naturally bring anger and despair. And that’s okay.

But also, happiness and sadness can co‑exist, just like love and resentment, anger and appreciation. It’s confusing sometimes. 🤯 We can feel a lot of anger toward someone we used to be close to and still harbor love for them. We can adore our partner and still go batshit crazy with some of their traits or habits. We can be sad that something is over and still be happy we had it, and that new things are coming. Real life isn’t black‑and‑white; it’s marvelously nuanced. 🎨

Life is about learning to accept, express, and live with our full spectrum of feelings. Like the Bridgerton‑esque lady on this poster, let’s learn to wear them proudly.

“I am more important than my job, my weight, my achievements, my perfectionism, my inner urgency, my inner criticism, others’ standards, others’ opinions, others’ achievements, others’ lives…I respect my limits.” - The Perfectionist

Coming from one recovering perfectionist, this one is a toughie to learn. Self‑kindness and respecting our mental, physical, and emotional resources are crucial in today’s world, which seems determined to turn us into “hyper‑performing humans.”

The first step in building confidence is focusing on self‑compassion and self‑acceptance—turning that inner critic into a kind friend, step by step and thought by thought. 💕 Every time we blame ourselves for making a mistake or not living up to our own (or society’s) expectations, we can pause and show ourselves the same compassion we’d give someone else.

This includes accepting what we’re good at and what we’re not; recognizing our true values and priorities, and identifying what isn’t worth our time right now (or ever).

Sure, maybe we could all get six‑pack abs—but do we really want them? Are they worth the mental and physical resources? How would it affect our bodies and overall health? If the answer is no, living with that slight discomfort (believe me, for a perfectionist it’s a riiiiight toughie!) is part of the journey. 🤷

There is magic in only experiencing and having the select things in life that we truly care about...like a magical set of things that's reserved and unique to us. There is bravery and uniqueness in choice, almost like we’re superheroes. 🦸

If we truly got to experience and choose everything, we would all be the same.

A big part of the uniqueness of human life is precisely in the art of choosing what to experience, see, be, love, and feel.

Embracing self-compassion and acceptance is a vital stepping stone to genuine confidence. It’s about accepting who we are, understanding our values, respecting our limits, and acknowledging that we’ll inevitably make mistakes. Most importantly, it’s trusting that we can look after ourselves, whatever comes our way.

From there, adding new self‑care routines or improving specific areas in our lives, becomes much easier and feels more natural. 🧘

“Some days self-care is as simple as sleep. Nothing more. Nothing less.”

These days, self-care has been turned into a commodity—packaged and sold as a neat list of steps or products. But, for me, self-care is simply paying attention to ourselves and figuring out our current needs and priorities, and how to satisfy them.

As someone who tried to stay productive 24/7, I had to rethink what “looking after myself” actually meant. And I realized sometimes it can be as simple as relaxing in bed, getting more sleep, or just chilling, and that's perfectly okay. For me, self-care reflects our individual needs during specific periods, and it can be either very simple or more complicated, boring or playful.  It’s also about accepting our different seasons:

“The psyches and souls of women also have their own cycles and seasons of doing and solitude, running and staying, being involved and being removed, questing and resting, creating and incubating, being of the world and returning to the soul-place.”

― Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Women Who Run With the Wolves

Let this invite you to be brave in doing whatever the heck “self-care” means for you on any given day, with the resources you currently have. Yes, let others serve as inspiration, not as pressure, not as a trigger for self-blame or punishment.

And, for god sake, just take that sweet heavenly nap if you feel like it. 😴

The Mindfulness Collection

“Soak In The Present Moment”

Mindfulness has been by far one of the biggest life‑changers for me—something I learned during therapy that has turned into a way of life. It helps me get back into my body and, pardon the cliché, feel alive. In a world that feels oh so virtual, where we spend most of our lives in imaginary realities, trapped and sucked into screens, mindfulness helps me return to the real. As silly as it may sound, I’ll touch a piece of fabric and think, Okay, this feels real. This feels now.

This collection is a poetic ode to all of these beautiful, everyday moments that we can cherish through mindfulness. 🖋️

Mindfulness, much like self-care, often gets packaged up as this overly complicated, time-consuming and fancy practice. Don’t know about ya, but the word itself always conjures an image of a monk in lotus pose somewhere secluded.

Mindfulness actually is pretty simple as defined here: “The practice of being fully present and aware of your current experience—without overreacting or getting lost in thoughts.”

Throughout the day, we have endless chances to let our brains rest and be mindful in all the sensory activities that bring us delight - sipping coffee ☕, dancing to a good bangeer 🎵, or embracing a loved one 🤗.

The mind rests through the senses, so whenever we’re tired from the overload of information and stimuli, we can use mindfulness and strip life down to its bare bones: those simple, everyday activities we love but sometimes we forget to savor.

Use these prints as gentle reminders to slow down and enjoy the little moments instead of piling them onto a never‑ending to‑do list in the name of this damned  #hassleculture.

Female Empowerment. Female Empowerment.
This is the vibe.

Kay, tried to do a rhyme there, it didn’t work, but you get the gist.

So, I hope you find these motivational quotes and reflections encouraging and inspiring. I hope you choose to let them inspire and illuminate your space - but even if they simply linger in your mind and give you a sparkly feeling or two, that makes me beyond happy. ✨

This is still a small business and I still sometimes feel like it’s just me, myself and I. My dream is to one day turn this into a powerful community: live meet-ups, and talks with fantastic professionals, all the shebang. One day…

Until then, feel free to send me a wee note or follow me on the socials.

PS: I also offer freelance design & consultancy services, and I especially want to work with consultants and small businesses in the mental health space. Sooo, get in touch :)
